Outpatient Services

The focus of Masada’s Outpatient Program is to provide counseling services which help increase the client’s self-esteem, improve family and social skills, and problem solving. To achieve this goal, Masada’s team provides a variety of services to youth and their families in their home, at school or at our office in Gardena. Outpatient services include individual and family therapy, comprehensive assessment and service plans, psychiatric evaluation, medication support, case management, and information and consultations.

Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall

Masada provides mental health services at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey, California. Minors placed in juvenile hall receive short-term psychotherapy, crisis evaluation, crisis counseling, assessments for placement, after care planning, and linkage by trained clinicians. The goal of the Juvenile Hall Project is to improve access to mental health services and facilitate a seamless continuity of care to minors who are detained in Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall both during their stay and upon their release.

Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS)

TBS is an adjunct mental health service providing short-term, one-to-one, behavioral interventions for youth under the age of 21 who are facing a critical juncture in their lives and may need additional support to prevent movement to a higher level of care or to transition to a lower level of care. TBS can also be provided if the youth has had and emergency psychiatric hospitalization during the past 24 months. A trained behavioral specialist will work intensively with a client to achieve specific behavioral goals.

Full Service Partnership

Masada Homes’ Full Service Partnership Program provides comprehensive, intensive community based mental health services to individuals from identified focal populations who typically have not responded well to traditional outpatient mental health and psychiatric rehabilitation services. The program is designed to help clients and families increase their ability to function at optimal levels, as well as independently, where appropriate. The program makes a commitment to do “whatever it takes” to help them progress toward recovery and wellness.

Wraparound Program

The Wraparound Program has been developed as an alternative to “out of home
placement” for at-risk youth. It is designed to support families to competently
care for their children with the goal of having a child stabilized in a permanent home
environment. A Plan of Care is jointly developed as a blueprint for success by the
family, the team of professionals from Masada Homes, the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS), the Department of Probation, and other community members. Strengths are utilized to meet the needs of the child and their family. The Wraparound Program is funded by DCFS.

Substance Abuse Services

Substance Abuse Services are provided under contract with The Los Angeles County Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs. Because substance abuse affects a person’s life in many dimensions, the Masada program utilizes recognized substance abuse treatment modalities combined with mental health services and occupational therapy to prepare client’s for effective living in the real world. Clients will develop the tools necessary for a clean and sober lifestyle as well as increasing their self esteem, self-efficacy and coping skills through therapeutic activities and application of skills learned in individual and group sessions.

Residential Program

The Residential Program is comprised of 6-bed group homes at Rate Classification Level 12; serving boys aged 13 to 18. The program is highly individualized and specializes in serving youth in need of emancipation services. Mental Health Services, Occupational Therapy, Vocational Training and Recreational Therapy are provided. Residents attend community schools with academic programs individually tailored to their educational needs, leading to a high school diploma or G.E.D.

Foster Family Agency (FFA)

FFA begun in 1992, offers a 365 day, twenty-four hour program for children from birth to seventeen (17) years of age who are dependents or wards of the court. The program provides children with a stable and supportive living environment and professional clinical and case management services while preparing them for reunification or permanent placement.

Medication Support

Masada Homes contracts with Board Certified Psychiatrists who specialize in child and addiction psychiatry. They are available at various agency sites for complete psychiatric evaluations and ongoing support for prescription services.

School Based Services

School Based services are provided in various locations throughout Los Angeles County. Through a partnership with the Los Angeles County Office of Education, Masada serves students at their Alternative Education sites as well as providing services in a number of other middle and high school settings. Services include: individual and group therapy, case management, social skill development, recreational therapy, occupational therapy and substance abuse counseling and education. Masada also works cooperatively with the Cal-Safe program providing mental health services to pregnant and parenting teens.
